Hard work and dedication to better our community and raise awareness – Let’s ride for those you love and find a cure together!
Bijou Treasures was proud to be a part of the 2011 Breast Cancer Pledge Ride. This year, thanks to you and over 650 Manitoba Motorcyclists, the Breast Cancer Pledge Ride raised over $78,000 in donations! The generosity doesn’t end there, as people continue to show their support and bring in their pledges.
The goal of the ride is to make a difference in our community. Breast cancer has touched each and every one of us in one way or another and through your help and generous contribution, the Breast Cancer Pledge Ride continues to make an impact on the health of our province.
In nine years the Manitoba motorcycling community has raised over $330,000 to fight breast cancer in Manitoba. Every dollar helps make a difference!
Your efforts have made a direct impact on patients with breast cancer and their families by supporting the Breast Cancer Centre of Hope resource centre, The Manitoba Screening Program, the wig program at CancerCare Manitoba and patient education shower cards that promote early detection.
Your generosity and dedication has made it possible to purchase a third mobile mammography screening unit and cargo van. This will aid in transporting the units across the province, enabling more women in rural and remote areas of our province to be screened for breast cancer every year.
The Breast Cancer Pledge Ride has supported upgrades to the mobile mammography units as well as the purchase of a ChemiDoc XRS Molecular Imaging System, a supersensitive camera that can view molecules within cells. This is the most advanced imaging system currently available used to analyze DNA, RNA and protein from breast cancer tumors.
The Breast Cancer Pledge ride has raised funds to support clinical trials at CancerCare Manitoba to enhance patient care, provide early access to new cancer therapies and make new drugs available that are not yet commercially available, or make available some newer commercially available drugs whose cost is not yet covered.
All funds raised stay right here in Manitoba at the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, where they are able to pick the projects they fund.
Breast cancer affects each and every one of us in one way or another. Let’s ride for those you love and find a cure together!
Bijou Treasures is a proud part of the Breast Cancer Pledge Ride, for this year and years to come!
